Mount Gay Rum Round Barbados Race Series
Celebrating its 80th year of racing tradition in 2016, the Mount Gay Round Barbados Race Series is fast becoming a speed-sailing, record-breaking favourite on the Caribbean circuit. In addition to top-class competitive offshore races, three days of coastal racing around the island for the Mount Gay Rum Round Barbados Race (the headline event), and a final 300-mile Ocean Race to Antigua, competitors and spectators from around the world will be able to participate in a full week of festivities. This year’s event also commemorates 50 years of independence for Barbados, as the headline race traditionally takes place on Errol Barrow Day (January 21), the birthday of Barbados’ first Prime Minister and the ‘father’ of the nation’s independence.
Itinerary includes: multiple races, including a Barbados to Antigua Ocean Race; regatta dinner; Grand Prize ceremony; The Flying Mile race between a local rally car and Britain’s Concise 10 MOD70 trimaran; Mount Gay Rum Distillery tours; an exhibition polo match; yacht charters; and numerous post-race parties.
